Relational Life Therapy

Relational Life Therapy assumes the counselor has a point of view. Rather than refereeing, Steve names what he sees, takes a position, and holds both partners to a standard of full respect.

Directness as a method

Neutrality can quietly protect a destructive pattern. RLT calls it out — the grandiosity, the contempt, the withdrawal — while staying warmly on the side of the relationship and of each person in it.

Looking beneath the fight

The presenting argument is rarely the issue. The work traces the adaptive strategies each of you learned long before you met, and how those strategies now collide.

Full-respect living

The standard is simple and demanding: no contempt, no control, no unilateral withdrawal. Sessions build the skills to hold that standard even when you are hurt.
